Five week game-concept

This week we started with a project that will run for five weeks. The assignment is to make a game-concept during these weeks that will be a 2D space-shooter featuring a theme based on two words that we have been given randomly. My groups words is:

  • Underground
  • Suburban

And how do you make a space-shooter from these words?

A space-shooter does not mean exactly what the name suggests. It means that there is no gravity in the game that affects players or ammunition of any kind. Space-shooter does not need to be in space, but they can’t have any kind of gravity.

Our game is not played in space. The general idea of the game this far is that we will make a game-concept about moles. Because they dig underground and our moles goal is to eat all the vegetables growing in peoples backyards in a suburban area.

The player controls the mole and must find his way to the vegetables in the garden and eat them. Unfortunately this would not be a very fun game. So the player is also required to avoid the human walking around his garden watering his plants and watching out for rodents such as yourself.

This is the basic idea of the game so far and there will be more posts about this subject.
